Nootka Sound, on the west coast of Vancouver Island is known as the birthplace of British Columbia, having been charted by Captain Cook in the 18th century on his search for the Northwest Passage. Rich in history, you will learn so much from this beautiful area. Nootka is the largest sound off the west coast of Vancouver Island and is one of our few remaining wilderness frontiers.

There is so much more to a day out on the water than just fishing. Sometimes just getting to a hot spot is as exciting as hooking into a Tyee. Abundant wildlife, whales, dolphins, sea otters, seals and an endless list of sea creatures, make each day interesting if not incredible. There are things that you can only see, feel, smell and taste in a world that takes you away from everything you have come to know in your daily life. Although we claim “ it’s not all about the fishing “, sometimes the fishing is unbelievable. Salmon, cod, halibut, crab and shrimp are commonly caught and brought to the dock in abundance.
